| Ken Alexander - VP Rentals
After starting behind the scenes in Second grade, Ken worked in lighting through High-school and College and graduated with Honors from the Theatre Department of Western Washington University. During his ‘extended’ University run Ken took time off to work at the Julliard School in NYC and the Minnesota Opera. After graduation he returned home to Vancouver where his college interest in dance (and dancers) was the backstage pass to his next gigs.
Ken was LD and TD for various dance companies including; The National Ballet of Canada, Ballet British Columbia, The Anna Wyman Dance Theatre and many others. These groups provided years of international touring and a chance to see the world on someone else’s dime. While at home between tours various regional TD and PM jobs filled in the down times and provided Ken’s first rental client base.
In 1991 while in Toronto with the National Ballet Ken met Huntly Christie and the original CL team when shopping for a new rental vendor. After a successful opening night they shook hands and agreed to stay in touch for future opportunities. Thus was born the idea of expanding Christie Lites beyond its home city.
Christie Lites Vancouver officially opened with Ken and David Lloyd at the helm in 1992. During the first years Ken continued to tour as Production Electrician for the National tour of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat while back home the CLV family grew and prospered. Eventually the CLV office required full-time focus and Ken stopped touring in 1997. By 2002 Christie Lites had expanded to 6 locations and Ken divested of CLV and became a member of the national CL Management Team.
As the current VP of Rentals Ken is once again spending much of his time on the road visiting 11 Christie offices and a multitude of wide-ranging show-sites. His focus is on business development: supporting the 20+ member Rental Rep team and an ever-expanding client constituency.
Home is once again back in Richmond, B.C. where Ken first grew up. He lives with wife Tracy and a very sleepy Rottweiler named Scooby. They spend their spare time travelling across North America and around the world – and relaxing in their new-found second home of East Sooke, BC.
"I enjoy the incredible gifts of good health, good friends, and good luck. My life is a wonderful combination of creative experiences, business opportunities and an amazing environment – the best of all worlds. I am grateful to the entire Christie Lites team and all our client partners for supporting me in this great career.”
